FAQ For All Products

Will the Condor® wheel chocks work with my motorcycle?

The Condor® wheel chock is designed to accommodate all standard size motorcycle tires, from a 14” to 22” rim size, and 80mm to 230mm width. For wider tire sizes there is the Condor® UWCK (Ultra-Wide Cradle Kit), and tire rim diameters larger than 22″ can be accommodated by our CHCK-1500 chock with additional settings. For bikes with very low, wrap-style fenders and or cowlings, a custom cradle may be purchased, fitted to a specific tire size width, so as not to make contact with the fender.

How do I know what setting my Condor® Cradle should be in for my motorcycle?

The Condor® Cradle Mechanism is designed so that for every tire/wheel size within the ranges specified a minimum of 2 cradle settings are suitable. Due to wide variations in the tire manufacturing process that are out of our control, not every bike and tire combination will have the same setting.

The 1st optimum setting for a specific tire would be the setting that allows the cradle to tilt as far forward as possible without making contact with the unit itself (SC-2000/CL-1000) or the unit’s mounting surface, or the ground (PS-1500).

If less retention is desired at any time due to too much sticking, the 2nd optimum setting may be more suitable.

The 2nd optimum setting would be the setting forward from the 1st optimum setting, ‘forward’ being oriented in the same direction as the travel of the motorcycle. Racing tire settings for GP or low durometer tire compounds would be the 5th and 6th setting on the PS-1500. This allows for the least amount of sticking when using the PS-1500 free standing.

Standard cradle settings parameters

**Note: It may take several attempts to become familiar with the optimal cradle setting for your motorcycle. **

The charts below show some estimates of which setting some various tire sizes may be in. This chart is strictly meant to provide a starting point to determine the best setting as defined above. These settings may not be the exact setting for your specific tire. Due to the numerous tire wheel combinations available, these guidelines will provide in a general manner the placements of the most common sizes seen on the market. These settings are recommended guidelines; they are not specific settings.

Which direction should the Condor® cradle be facing in my chock?

All Condor® cradles have a small tab with a hole in it for hanging during the powder-coating process. This tab should be facing the rear of the bike, at the entry point of the chock. It should be the first thing the tire touches when rolling in.

Will the Condor® interfere with any components on my motorcycle?

The Condor® wheel chock is designed to safely hold all standard motorcycle tires on the market. It is designed to only make contact with the tread component of the tire and not make contact with the rims or sidewalls.

If a motorcycle has a low, wrap-style fender, one of our custom-sized cradles may be best. Please provide the tire size (usually in mm as displayed on the sidewall of the tire) and we can recommend a cradle.

For motorcycles with large over-hanging fenders like the Indian Chief, please refer to the photos on our website showing how these types of fenders do clear when the chock is in the correct setting.

Sometimes it is helpful to email a photo to tcdd@condor-lift.com, and tech support will be able to determine if there are any additional considerations for selecting the best cradle for a specific motorcycle.

Will the Condor® work with a 23” or larger rim size?

Our PS-1500 and SC-2000 models can accommodate a 23” wheel by adjusting the cradle to setting #1 (all the way back) and adjusting the front ‘V’ flange to the highest setting.

For tire sizes larger than 23”, our CHCK-1500 will work best. It has additional settings for these larger tire sizes.

Also, contact customer service for additional information.

How do I remove my motorcycle out of the Condor® wheel chock?

To remove your motorcycle from the chock, simply pull back on the bike and pull it out. You will also need some additional force to overcome the rocking mechanism of the cradle. Be sure you are standing over the bike with your feet flat on the ground, not sitting on it.

For heavier bikes, the front suspension may be used to assist by pushing down on the handlebars, and then using the recoil of the suspension as extra energy.

If the tire seems to be stuck, trying rocking the bike side to side to loosen it and then pull back.

If you are still having trouble, you may have the chock in a setting that is too far back for that tire size. If this is the case, the tire will be wedged in, not using the mechanism as intended. You may need to have another person assist by holding the chock in place and help push the bike out. Once it is out, refer to the cradle setting section in this FAQ, or our Supplemental Cradle Settings manual to find the best setting for that tire.

Are there any accessories for my Condor® wheel chock to help with heavier bikes?

The Condor® wheel chocks are designed to stabilize all standard size tires on all stock motorcycles, up to 2400 lbs. For heavier bikes, or bikes with extended front forks where the weight is distributed more towards the rear of the bike, adding our Boomerang Bar to the PS-1500 can add extra stability to the rear of the chock. Our CHCK-1500 comes standard with the Boomerang Bar.

Where are the accessories for my Condor® that I ordered?

Additional items you may have ordered with your Condor® are sometimes secured within the packaging of the unit. Be sure to remove all packing components and inspect the box completely. If your accessories were shipped in a separate box, please refer to your tracking information to be sure you have received it.

Please contact customer service if anything is missing or needs to be replaced.

How can I attach my Condor® to a trailer floor?

If mounting the PS-1500 to a standard ¾” plywood deck, the TK-3000 trailer adapter kit can be purchased separately. The Bracket should be secured using the hardware provided, and used according to the included instructions. Additional kits can be purchased for multiple locations.

If mounting the SC-2000 to a standard ¾” plywood deck, the trailer adapter plates are included with the chock should be secured using the hardware provided, and used according to the included instructions. Additional kits (SC-3000) can be purchased for multiple locations.

If mounting any of the Condor® trailer adapter kits (TK-3000, SC-2000, etc.) to an Aluminum trailer, or expanded metal deck, we require the use of our reinforcement plate (TK-2601) on the underside of the trailer floor.

When using a Condor® in the trailer, do I still need to tie down the bike?

YES! While all Condor® chocks will hold a bike upright securely, the bike should still always be tied down to the trailer floor. It should be noted that you should NEVER tie the bike down to the Condor® chock itself, it is not designed for that purpose.

I don’t have access to beneath my trailer floor to attach the trailer adapter kit. What can I do?

Some tow vehicles such as “toy haulers” have restricted access to the area beneath the trailer floor due to utilizes runs and fire-proofing. For these applications we recommend using our PS-1500 as a free-standing unit like you would in the garage. Using at least 4 tie-downs, you can secure the motorcycle in the front and in the rear, being careful not to put too much force pulling backwards on the bike.

How should I tie down my bike when using a Condor®?

While using any Condor® chock, you should use as many tie downs as you like to secure your vehicle. While we cannot specifically instruct anyone how to tie down their specific bike in any trailering situation, we can recommend that you watch our helpful videos showing how we have been doing it for years.

When using our trailer adapter kits with a Condor® wheel chock, and depending on the type of bike, our road crew technicians use 2 tie downs, attached to a solid frame member located anywhere from the middle to the rear of the bike. The tie down point on the floor is slightly forward of the tie down point on the bike, at no more than a 45-degree angle. This method helps prevent the bike from swaying side to side, holds the front and rear suspension evenly, and also holds the bike slightly forward and into the chock. If you are interested in using this method, we recommend seeing it first hand at one of our displays at a show, or at least viewing our videos to see how we do it.

When using other movable products like the CL-1000 or Universal E-Track Adapter, we require using at least 4 tie-down straps, attaching the bike directly to the trailer bed/floor.

Condor® Products assumes no responsibility for any damages incurred due to incorrectly securing any vehicle.

Can I mount a Condor® wheel chock on my lift table?

Our Condor® wheel chocks are a very useful addition to any lift table. You can either mount a chock directly to the table using bolts that are at least a Grade 5 rating. Also, you can purchase an additional trailer adapter kit, which can be mounted to the lift table. This way, your chock can still be easily attached and detached when you need to use it elsewhere.

The Condor® SC-2000 is the preferred chock for any lift table. By mounting the trailer adapter kit at the end of the table, you can attach the chock so that it hangs over the edge, virtually extending the length of your lift table.

The Condor® PS-1500 or CHCK-1500 can also be directly mounted with the front support bar removed if the width of the lift table does not work with the full width of the chock. Use (4) 5/16”-18 Flat Head Socket Cap Screws with at least a Grade 5 rating in all 4 holes on the main unit.

Where can I see a live demonstration of how Condor® products work?

Our Condor® road crew is on tour year-round at most of the major bike rallies around the country. We are always available at these shows to demonstrate how easy our products are to use, as well as give you a chance to try them out yourself. Check our calendar to see when we will be at a rally near you!

If you are within a reasonable travel distance from our offices, you can call ahead and make an appointment to stop by and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

FAQ For PS-1500 Pit-Stop/Trailer-Stop CHCK-1500 Chopper Chock

PS-1500 / PSTK-6400 / CHCK-1500

Can my Condor® PS-1500 be permanently mounted?

The Condor® TK-3000 Trailer adapter Kit is designed to allow the PS-1500 to attach and detach quickly in any trailer application.

If you would prefer to mount it more permanently, there are 4 pre-drilled holes around the perimeter of the unit to allow this. Use (4) 5/16”-18 Flat Head Socket Cap screws, with a minimum Grade 5 strength rating, along with large fender type washers and locknuts. The length of the bolts will depend on the thickness of the trailer deck.

If mounting to an Aluminum trailer floor, or expanded metal deck, the use of additional reinforcement on the underside of the trailer floor may be required and is highly recommended.

If mounting to a concrete floor, appropriately sized threaded anchors can be installed to provide attachment points. Be sure that the anchors are installed correctly according to the manufacturer’s requirements. Use (4) 5/16”-18 Flat Head Socket Cap screws, with a minimum Grade 5 strength rating. The length of the bolts will depend on the depth requirements of the anchors themselves.

Can you customize the front support (base bar) of my Condor® PS-1500?

The front support of the Condor® PS-1500 can be customized to be shorter in order to accommodate special trailer conditions. The minimum length it can be shortened to is 13”. Additional charges may apply for this fabrication.

When using a PS-1500 with a shortened bar in a trailer application, it must be secured to the trailer floor using the trailer adapter kit, or permanently mounted. Depending on the weight and type of motorcycle, the use of our Boomerang Bar may be required.

When using a PS-1500 with a shortened bar, it may no longer be stable for normal use as a free-standing unit. You may wish to retain an original bar at the standard length for free-standing floor applications.

What are the main differences between the PS-1500 and CHCK-1500?

The CHCK-1500 is designed specifically with longer, heavier, custom bikes in mind. The CHCK-1500 has 3 more size adjustments for tire rims larger than 23”, and includes out Boomerang bar for added support on longer bikes where the weight distribution is further to the rear. It also comes standard with the TK-3000 trailer adapter kit, and may include one of our “chopper” style cradles. These cradles can be used when a custom, wrap-around style fender will not allow the use of our Standard cradle.

How do the special “chopper” cradles work on my Condor®?

The Condor® chopper cradles are sized specifically for the width of your tire. When used in any of our chocks, the curved end will wrap around the tire, and slide safely between the tire and the inside of the fender. When ordering, please provide your exact tire size and designation, as written on the sidewall of the tire itself. It is also recommended that you check to be sure that the fender is mounted correctly, with even spacing on either side of the tire. The recommended distance between the tire and the inside of the fender, should be no less than 0.3” on each side.

FAQ For SC-2000 Trailer-Only

SC-2000 / SCC-4000

Can my Condor® SC-2000 be permanently mounted?

The Condor® SC-2000 has an integrated trailer adapter kit designed to allow it to attach and detach quickly in any trailer application.

If you would prefer to mount it more permanently, there are numerous pre-drilled holes around the base of the unit to allow this. Use at least (4) 3/8”-16 bolts, with a minimum Grade 5 strength rating, along with large fender type washers and locknuts.

Can my Condor® SC-2000 be mounted to my trailer with lag bolts?

The Condor® SC-2000 must be bolted through the floor and secured to the trailer using the included hardware. We do not recommend attaching the mounting plates or the chock itself to the floor of a trailer using lag-style screws or bolts.

Can my Condor® SC-2000 Trailer-Only chock be converted to work free-standing like the PS-1500?

The Condor® SC-2000 MUST be attached to a mounting surface such as a trailer deck or lift table to function as it is designed. It is not meant to be used as a free-standing unit like the PS-1500. Any after-market adaptations to attempt to use the SC-2000 without being properly secured as directed can result in damage to your vehicle.

For certain lightweight sport bikes and scooters, our Scooter Chock Floor Adapter Kit (SCFA) can be purchased separately and attached to the base of the unit for free-standing floor operation. This method is not recommended for larger, heavier motorcycles.

FAQ For Universal E-Track Adapter, Universal L-Track Adapter, E-Track Adapter

UNIV-ETRACK-ADAPTER / UNIV-LTRACK-ADAPTER / E-TRACK-ADAPTER

How far apart should my E-Track or L-Track be installed to work with the Universal E-Track Adapter and Universal L-Track Adapter?

The Condor® Universal E-Track Adapter and Universal L-Track Adapter are designed to span a width of 26” to 46”, when measured center-to-center.

When using the adapter with our PS-1500, the tracks should have a minimum of 29” between the insides of the track sections to accommodate the length of the PS-1500 front support (base bar).

Why does there appear to be so much “slop” in the Universal E/L-Track Adapter assembly?

The Condor® Universal E-Track Adapter and Universal L-Track Adapter are designed to accommodate multiple styles of track mounting configurations, such as surface, flush, and recess mounted track. The slotting and additional mobility in the system are what give the adapter its versatility for motorcycle placement. Once the vehicle is secured using at least (4) tie down straps as recommended, the system will stabilize and hold securely.

What mounting styles of track will the Universal E/L-Track Adapter and E-Track Adapter work with?

The Condor® Universal E-Track Adapter is designed to work with the following methods of track installation:

  • Surface mounted track
  • Flush mounted track
  • Recess mounted track

The Condor® Universal L-Track Adapter is designed to work with the following methods of track installation:

  • Surface mounted track
  • Flush mounted track
  • The Universal L-Track Adapter CANNOT accommodate recess mounted track configurations

The Condor® E-Track Adapter is designed to work with the following methods of track installation:

  • Surface mounted track
  • Flush mounted track
  • The E-Track Adapter CANNOT accommodate recess mounted track configurations

Why am I having trouble attaching the E-Track Adapter to my E-Track?

The Condor® E-Track Adapter is designed to install into Standard E-Track with a minimal clearance under the folded tabs that create the track slots. As we cannot control the manufacturing standards of other companies, it is possible that your brand installed in your trailer may be bent down too low for the tab on the adapter to slide under. If this happens you have some options:

  • Add material under the track to raise it and allow clearance for the tab.
  • Use a tool to bend the tabs in the track up enough to clear the tab on the adapter.
  • Purchase Condor® brand E-Track for this application. We specifically control this dimension so that our adapters will always work and fit properly.

What is the best way to mount E-track strips to my trailer floor?

According to online retailers, there are 3 basic types of fasteners to choose from when installing E-Track onto a trailer floor:

  • Through-bolting: Use a bolt, flat washer, and lock nut every 12” along the length of track, as well as at the ends.
  • Self-drilling hex head screws or lag bolts: Every hole along entire length of track.
  • Wood screws: Every hole along entire length of track.

Whenever possible, be sure to fasten to or through the frame members of the trailer floor for superior hold. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for proper installation.

FAQ For CL-1000 Cycle Loader

CL-1000

Can I use the CL-1000 to pull my bike up a ramp and into my pickup bed?

The Condor® Cycle Loader is designed for use on a flatbed, roll-back style tow vehicle. Specifically, it is meant to be used to roll up an incline, but may bottom out on the transition when going from a ramp to a flat surface.

Certain “Toy haulers” and ramps with sufficient length as to decrease this angle of transition have been successfully used by some customers to help load their bikes. Please contact us directly with the dimensions of your ramp and bed height, and we may be able to approximate whether your setup will allow for this application.

Should I use the eye-bolts on the assembly as a tie down point?

NO. The eye-bolts on the Condor® Cycle Loader are designed for 2 main purposes:

  • Activating and deactivating the brake mechanisms.
  • Strapping the bike to the unit to prevent the tire from rolling back out of the chock while the winch is pulling the bike and unit up the inclined bed of the tow vehicle.

The motorcycle itself should be tied down to the bed of the tow vehicle with a recommended minimum of 4 tie-down straps. Do not use the Cycle Loader as a securement point for any vehicle. Condor® will not be held responsible for damage to the unit as a result of incorrect use.

FAQ For GD-3500 Garage Dolly

GD-3500

What is the largest width rear tire that the Dolly can accommodate?

The width of tire the Condor® Garage Dolly can fit greatly depends on the profile of the tire itself. For a relatively flat/square shaped profile, the maximum width is a 260 mm tire. If the profile is more rounded, like a racing style tire, the max would be a 360mm rear tire.

Can the Dolly be used in my trailer like other Condor® wheel chocks?

Yes. The most secure option is to purchase our GD-TK-3000 kit which will allow the user to quickly attached and detach the dolly from the trailer floor, similar to how our PSTK-6400 works.

If you are unable to attach hardware to the trailer floor, we suggest that all 4 brake stops be fully turned down to the floor, but not lifting the dolly off the wheels. Then the bike should be tied down using a minimum of 4 tie downs, 2 in the front and 2 in the rear.

Why aren’t the holes my GD-H-ASSIST-KIT lining up with the holes on the side of the Dolly?

The Condor® Garage Dolly Height Assist brackets are adjustable to fit over either a SINGLE or DOUBLE side extrusion. They are not meant to be bolted TO the unit, but rather are meant to slide OVER the side extrusions. The pins are meant to hold the brackets to the side of the dolly by inserting them through the holes in the bracket and then UNDERNEATH the side extrusions. Please refer to the manual for the correct placement based on what length setting the dolly is in.
